What's up my name is Elijah I grew up between Lincoln high School and Logan, on Market Street. On L street by the 32nd trolley stop, I would always play truth or dare with my other kids in the hood in the parking lot by a church .I would put firecrackers inside people is trash, So when they open it, they could see the color of smoke .I would play at stockmen recreation center, I would get into lots of fights there as well. I remember when my brother put a firecracker next to a dog that was barking, the firecracker it wine. The owner came out yelling and we ran, but my brother other stood there like a dummy. I also played at Memorial Center, and in the summer I would jump the gate and go swimming I also rode my bike down the street to “Blue Babies Park”. The people I grew up with were crazy, wild, and always lived on the edge. To me, my neighborhood was fun, cool, and full of interesting people. I knew that it was dangerous because of gang shootings, fights, and the drugs, but I love Market Street from 47th to 33rd.
Good Old Days
As I sit and gaze into the heavens Bathing in Gods spotlight My pores exuding childhood memories I reminisce of the good old days Barefooted and carefree Little child running wild Summer breeze caressing my cheeks Double Dutch and hop scotch Red light, green light, yellow light, stop You hide, I seek I bet I can climb the highest in that tree Lightning bugs and mosquito bites Mother may I Oh those were the good old days Remember how we would get excited just to hear the ice cream man Push-up pops and screwballs Nutty buddies and Mickey mouse But we better beat the street light I'm not getting my own switch tonight Oh those were the good old days Remember how we use to watch Fat Albert and them on Saturday mornings And how we couldn't wait to see the road runner and the coyote kick up dust I guess we better stop jumping in the bed I think we getting a little too loud Yall know mama in there watching Good Times Oh those were the good old days Remember when happy meals really made us happy Kool aid really made us smile Now that I think about it Pretty much everything made us smile Back then Oh those were the good old days
